GCH CH Longo Miller N Lore’s Diamond Lil

Statistically this has been one of the most interesting years since I began publishing my blog, Dog Show Poop. It’s rare at this point in the year for dogs to be within striking distance of our Top Ten Dogs All Breeds. However, several dogs just keep moving on up the rankings. Here are some of the dogs that have been climbing the rankings this last month.

Our current Number Nine Dog All Breeds is the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded. A month ago Matrix had just broken into the Top Twenty, but eight big Hound Group firsts and a BIS at the Valdosta Kennel Club show in Atlanta GA, catapulted the country’s Number Two Hound 11 spots up the rankings. The Number Ten Dog, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country Tag I’m It, also made the most of the month, picking up two BIS in four final appearances. His latest BIS in Harrisburg PA was good enough to climb nine rungs up the ladder from the Number 19 position.

Waiting just outside the door is the Number 11 Dog, the Great Dane, GCH CH Longo Miller N Lore’s Diamond Lil. Scout had the most impressive run of our up-and-coming crew, grabbing five straight Best In Shows over two weekends in Nebraska and Florida. The wins were worth 16 steps up the rankings, all the way from the Number 27 spot. The Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Kenro’s Witching Hour, was recently all the way back at Number 34 in the All Breeds rankings, but eight final appearances, including two BIS in Michigan and North Carolina, hves brought Dora all the way up to the Number 16 slot. That’s 18 spots thanks to those big Working Group Numbers.

The Maltese, GCH CH Scylla’s Small Kraft Re-Lit, has been among the Top Toys all year and is back in the Top Twenty as the Number 19 Dog All Breeds. A month ago Hank was down at Number 28, but spent the last few weeks at some of the larger venues collecting four Toy Group top prizes and the big Best In Show at the Harrisburg PA closer, the Mason and Dixon Kennel Club show. We wrote recently about the very rare, if not unprecedented, hat trick by a King Charles & Ruby English Toy Spaniel. GCH CH LTO Prosperity had just broken into the Top 100 in mid-March, languishing at Number 71, but four BIS and two additional Toy Group Ones moved Prosperity past 41 of his fellow 100 Best to the Number 30 place. Now that’s pretty heady.

Remember, we are just a third of the way through 2013. There’s lots of excitement yet to come. And that’s today’s Back Story.
