Three Legends Leave Their Mark and Luxembourg’s Biannual Show

The purebred dog world lost three of its finest goodwill ambassadors with the recent passing of a trio of past Westminster winners. The lives of JR the Bichon Frise, Rufus the Colored Bull Terrier and Stump the Sussex Spaniel have left their mark on the world of purebred dogs – and on the world at large. Today we honor their legacy and the gift their breeders, owners and handlers have given to the dog sport.

Contributing writer Karl Donvil reports on the Luxembourg Kennel Club’s 85th all-breed dog show, where nearly a third of the entry arrived from neighboring France. The international judging panel did attract dogs from all over Europe, with exceptional entries made in many breeds. Find out which dogs remained undefeated in their Groups, and meet the proud Pug that captured Best in Show.

Billy Wheeler and Kayla Bertagnolli are with me in southeastern Pennsylvania this weekend, and we’re bringing you news and results from ringside at the Hatboro Dog Club and the Devon Dog Show Association. Be sure to check out our Facebook page and photo galleries from these shows, as well as tomorrow’s Montgomery County Kennel Club all-Terrier celebration.

Special Times Just Right; the Colored Bull Terrier, ‘Rufus,’ Ch. Rocky Top’s Sundance Kid; and the Sussex Spaniel, ‘Stump,’ Ch. Clussexx Three D Grinchy Glee, is the celebration of the abundance of joy dogs bring to our lives, and the importance of one show’s contribution to promoting the message. more
