No Apologies, plus a Favorite Pastime

A fellow blogger’s post inspired Best In Show Daily’s Blogger-In-Chief Billy Wheeler to share his take on dog owners’ and breeders’ rights. He says we all need to take a “no apologies” position when it comes to defending our sport. After all, this is America, right? Billy has no plans to retreat to his ancestors’ days when despots ruled without oversight, and he explains the purebred dog education program he singlehandedly hosts in his hometown of Memphis.

A blank sheet of paper and a fountain pen can get my creative juices flowing just as readily as an empty Word document. And creating drawings in pen and ink has long been a favorite pastime of mine, the perfect activity for a rainy day spent indoors. Of course, the dog has provided the ideal muse for countless illustrations over the years, including the trio that I’m sharing with readers today.

Many of this year’s top show dogs are featured in their own beautiful mini-websites on Best In Show Daily. Simply click on a banner ad to see the dog’s up-to-date show history, plus a slide show of photos that reveals exactly why it’s a top dog.

The dog makes an ideal companion and working partner, as any reader of Best In Show Daily will tell you. But a canine also makes the perfect muse for artists and writers. In fact, the dog is an excellent model for any creative person looking to express his or her love and admiration for “man’s best friend.” more

No Apologies

One of the most interesting dog writers in cyberspace is Susi Szeremy, a Pulik breeder/owner/handler. Yesterday Susi posted a piece on her DogKnobit blog about the British Kennel Club’s role in creating an anti-dog environment in the UK. I encourage you to read her article, “The Kennel Club: What Did They Think Would Happen?”, and consider what environment we are creating for ourselves here in the US. more
