New Castle Shows Pay Tribute, plus Billy Wheeler on Washington’s Winners
Senior Editor Christi McDonald takes a break from her usual Monday Fancy That to let us know about an upcoming cluster “that deserves recognition instead.” This year’s Memorial Weekend Classic, hosted by three clubs in New Castle, Pa., is dedicated to Tom Glassford, the professional handler turned AKC field rep, because “It’s hard to put into words how much Tommy meant to us and to our cluster,” says the show chairman. The Classic is one of those clusters, Christi reports, that knows how to draw a healthy, consistent entry. In this Fancy That, you’ll find out why Tom was so well-loved and what exactly the clubs do to host such a successful cluster each year.
In his Monday Morning Mop-Up, Blogger-in-Chief Billy Wheeler looks across the country at the dogs that prevailed at two weekends of shows in the state of Washington. The WallaWalla Kennel Club held its two shows on the last weekend of April in Seattle, and for the last two days the Olympia Dog Fanciers Association hosted its two in Elma. Check out Billy’s blog for a peek at some of the winning dogs that don’t often travel outside of the Pacific Northwest.
