Remembering When Dog Shows Were Fun, plus What to Wear
Blogger-in-Chief Billy Wheeler wonders if his readers can remember a time when dog shows were fun. Although most fanciers eventually develop nostalgia for the “good ole days,” our dog show junkie has never tired of the fun he experiences both in and out of the ring. Today Billy reminds us all that dog shows can still be fun for everyone.

Deciding what to wear in the show ring is something every exhibitor must consider, including junior handlers. DFR Blogger Kayla Bertagnolli acknowledges that while an actual dress code may not be in place, it’s a good idea to dress with flexibility and fun in mind. Looking good doesn’t mean you can’t express yourself with a little pride.

Best In Show Daily invites you to participate in our latest online poll. Each week we ask readers to share their opinions on a topic of interest to breeders, exhibitors and dog lovers everywhere. This week we’d like to learn how you've had fun at a dog show. To participate in our poll, go directly to the right-hand column of our home page at Let us know what you think!

Remember When Shows Were Fun?
By Billy Wheeler

I’m at San Francisco International Airport awaiting my plane home. These days you spend a lot of time in airports waiting when you travel. That gives you a lot of time to let your mind wander, a habit I encourage. When my mind wanders, I tend to think about dog shows. I’ve just spent four days at a dog show and had a lot of fun. I can’t say that about every show I attend, but I do remember a time when almost all dog shows were fun. more
