Evaluating Balance in Dogs, plus the Latest Poll Results
“One of the foundation principles for evaluating dogs rests on an understanding of what ‘balance’ means.” So writes Senior Editor Christi McDonald in Part II of her Evaluating Dogs series. As an apprentice to a successful Poodle handler, Christi learned the value of balance from a retired Standard Poodle with moderate angles and an effortless gait. Although balanced angulation between front and rear is required of every dog, other aspects of correct balance are breed-specific.
