Kennel Club Chairman Speaks Out, plus the Buzz About Border Collies
Stuart Baillie, the managing director of Dog World-UK, shares with us today the highlights of the Kennel Club chairman’s annual “state of the nation” type speech given at the Welsh Kennel Club’s recent championship show. Prof. Steve Dean addressed the changed perception of the Kennel Club in the United Kingdom, the decline in show entries in Britain and how he sees the future. Read Stuart’s account for some insight into what’s happening with our fellow fanciers across the Atlantic.

The Border Collie breed standard is one that clearly addresses the fact that this breed was designed for a very specific purpose. Dan Sayers explores the history that led to the inclusion of such language as “actively working herding dog.” Today you can learn all about this “overachieving breed,” as Dan refers to the dogs that inspire all of us to move faster, jump higher and work harder.

Many of this year’s top show dogs are featured in their own beautiful mini-websites on Best In Show Daily. Simply click on a banner ad to see the dog’s up-to-date show history, plus a slide show of photos that reveals exactly why it’s a top dog.
