There will be but five locations to visit an AKC show this week in the lower 48. However, there will be multiple days at most of the sites and plenty of points to draw the top competitors. The show week is already under way in Raleigh NC where five clubs have collaborated to draw over 7,600 dogs: the Cary Kennel Club, the Alamance Kennel Club, the Durham Kennel Club, the Raleigh Kennel Club and the Fayetteville Kennel Club. Many of the dogs that were in Louisville will make the 600-mile trek over to Raleigh to avail themselves of the opportunities for big points.

New York fanciers will find big numbers in Edison NJ where the New Brunswick Kennel Club and the Bronx County Kennel Club’s three all-breed shows will get a boost from limited-breed shows on Thursday courtesy of the Big Apple Sporting Society, the all Toy Progressive Dog Club, the Non-Sporting Group Club Of The Garden State and the Herding Group Association Of New Jersey. There are but two shows in Fort Worth TX, but the hometown kennel club benefited from the easy airline access and drew over 4,300 entries.

Our remaining shows this week are all on the West Coast. The big draw is the Vintage Cluster hosted by the San Mateo Kennel Club and Oakland Kennel Club in Vallejo CA at the top of San Francisco Bay, with over 6,300 dogs entered. There are also traditional two-day weekends in Bremerton WA with the Peninsula Dog Fanciers Club and in Anchorage AK with the Tanana Valley Kennel Club and the Alaska Kennel Club.

Happily, this week is but a temporary downturn. The upcoming holiday week will provide exhibitors lots of chances to get out and chase points with 29 all-breed shows in 12 different venues.
