The Thanksgiving weekend, with its reduced dog show schedule, can be pretty uneventful. After all we had 40 all-breed shows the prior week and Thanksgiving week had just 22 shows. However, in a year with the top ranking so hotly contested, there was much to watch for in between turkey, football and shopping.
Four of our Top Five Dogs All Breeds were in West Spring Field MA where the Number One Dog, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, and the Number Two Dog, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, slugged it out for the privilege to watch the Number Three Dog, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, go Best In Show on Thanksgiving Day at the Holyoke Kennel Club show. The GWP, Oakley, and the Springer, Peyton, would split the remaining three shows, with Peyton winning Friday’s Windham County Kennel Club show & Saturday’s South Windsor Kennel Club outing, and Oakley taking the Springfield Kennel Club event on Sunday. The Number Five Dog, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, would finish the set with two Toy Group Firsts and a RBIS.
The Number Four Dog, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, opened her week with a BIS at Friday’s Golden Valley Kennel Club show in Turlock CA. The Number Six Dog, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, got her BIS fix at Saturday’s Brandon Florida Kennel Club show in Plant City FL. The Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, our Number Seven Dog, was here in Montgomery AL where he picked up the BIS at the hometown Montgomery Kennel Club’s Saturday show. The Number Nine Dog, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Pandora’s Box, spent the long weekend in West Friendship MD and brought home the big rosette from Friday’s Northeastern Maryland Kennel Club show.
Check back with us later this week, and we will provide you with updated standings and a look at the remaining shows this year. And that’s today’s Back Story.
