My Monday Morning Mop Up this week follows familiar ground. Six of the 21 all-breed shows in the lower 48 this week were won by four of our Top Ten Dogs All Breeds, eight more were won by dogs ranked in the Top 100, and seven were won by dogs not yet in the Top 100.

After going head to head in Houston last weekend, our top two dogs, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, and the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, were on opposite coasts collecting BIS. The Number One Dog, the Wire Fox, Sky, took the Saturday BIS in Lompoc CA at the Lompoc Valley Kennel Club show. The Number Two Dog, the PWD, Matisse, took in the three big all-breed shows in Greenville SC, collecting the BIS at the Hendersonville Kennel Club’s opener, a Working Group One at Saturday’s Greenville Kennel Club show, and another BIS at Sunday’s Spartanburg Kennel Club closer. Matisse would collect better than 3,600 points for his trouble, putting him 2,500 points closer to the Wire, Sky.

The Number Three Dog, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, and the Number Five Dog, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Kenro’s Witching Hour, are in Marion OH where each dog has tallied one BIS and two Group Firsts. The MinPin, Classie, is all alone in the Number Three spot, some 11,000 points behind the Portie, Matisse, and over 18,000 ahead of the current Number Four Dog, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm. Classie and the Giant Dora have one more day in Ohio before heading home. Dora could go home as the Number Four Dog All Breeds if she’s lucky.

The breakout performance of the week goes to the Bulldog, GCH CH Mytoys Epic Against the Win. Ralph and breeder/owner/handler Dennis O’Connor spent last weekend in Houston where he collected a big Non-Sporting Group first place at Friday’s Houston Kennel Club show. This weekend Ralph took another Group One on Saturday and followed with the BIS on Sunday. I’m looking for Ralph to join the Top 100 when all the numbers are tabulated this week.

This is my last Back Story for a while. I am going on hiatus to concentrate on keeping the show reports and statistics up-to-date for the dog show community on my original site, Dog Show Poop. I’ll be throwing in some local color and some insider information from time to time, so come over and visit me at DSP. My thanks to all my Best In Show Daily fans and to the wonderful folks here at BISD for making me welcome.
